The journey of transforming BCI research into consumer products

At Zander Labs, we translate scientific discoveries into practical innovations. Today, we invite you to peek behind the curtain and explore the process that turns scientific breakthroughs into user-friendly solutions.

While research work provides invaluable insights, it often remains confined within technical spaces and relies on complex tools. To bring BCI innovations to consumers, we isolate the developed capabilities in a user and developer-friendly environment that encapsulates our specialized technical knowledge. Our AI and Machine Learning development team´s primary mission is to translate crucial research findings into an independent self-sufficient framework, suitable for consumer applications.

The process often starts by designing an overall software architecture that promotes the seamless integration of all components while maximizing their performance. With scalability in mind, the software architecture is designed from the ground up to enable new paradigms and classifiers to be effortlessly supported.

Creating an independent framework involves extensive coding from scratch to accurately support all key research components of a BCI application, namely stimulus presentation, signal processing, and online analysis. Regarding stimulus presentation, eliciting the expected neural responses requires the stimuli to be of high fidelity to the original design.

Similarly, data acquisition should preserve the integrity of the signals, and its processing should adhere to the pre-established pipeline. Event and context markers should be thoroughly validated to ensure precise synchronization of neural data with significant events and high-quality data labeling for proper BCI classifier training. Finally, the classifiers should then be easily deployed without requiring technical expertise from the user.

Our development team is also responsible for validating the application’s code and thoroughly testing its functionality, ensuring it meets the quality standards established by our research work. This quality control process guarantees that the application performs as expected.

Join us on this amazing journey of transforming BCI research into consumer products. Together, we're making the future of BCI accessible and exciting for all.
